Not a great place to work if you want hours and to advance

Sally’s has very strict company policy guidelines you must follow but different managers change them all the time, so you never know if your doing the right thing. They never have full time positions, paid holidays and no one can get over 29 hours. They always promise to advance people but they never do. The turnover rate of employees is incredible!

An alright company

Maybe it was the store i worked at but we were always understaffed if someone called in and if said person calls off and you’re off that day and don’t take the shift you’re treated terribly the next tine you work... I wasn’t trained properly about hair dyes or perming and honestly didn’t feel confident or comfortable enough helping these innocent customers. If I were to ask my manager questions about the products she would look at me like I was d

It’s a good job to start off with

This job is good for starting out but not for the long run. The company prides themselves very much on sales. They are very flexible and are able to work with my schedule which I greatly appreciate.

It’s decent

The job itself is great, very easy and fun. Just checking out customers, putting out shipment, organizing, cleaning and such. But the management at the Augusta location is awful. Immature women who blame everyone for their own mistakes. I recommend working at Sally’s, but definitely not that location.

It just keeps getting worse

This job is so demanding for the amount of pay you are receiving. They want you to do weekly counts, planograms, read their newsletter, change signage, put out shipment, keep brand standards, BUT want you to stop everything and anything to attend to every single customer. Nothing ever gets done on a timely basis especially when they have associates working by themselves all the time. Not to mention how freaking dangerous that is. Also, theft is a real problem in the company, both internally and externally. At my store it gets super busy and I’m left by myself to help all the customers. Of course there is going to be people stealing when they see I’m by myself and there are no cameras around. They don’t care about their employees safety and expect too much from people who only work 10 hrs a week because that’s what they want people’s hours to look like.

Great place to work if your into beauty industry

Every day you learn something new.You get to learn about the different types of products. It gets really busy during state exams times as well when the holidays come. You'll enjoy the part of helping that frantic customer who did a permanent hair color and did not like the results.

Sally Beauty is a fun place to work if you know the inventory.

I was very excited to work at sally. Once I started the job I got dropped into it fairly fast. I was ringing the first day I started. There are many perks to the job; the discount is good, the pay is decent, and you get free products monthly. Some con; you are expected to do everything due to it being so small, from backstock to ringing to mopping.

A good place to start.

Sally Beauty is a wonderful place to start to get your foot into the door of working in a retail store. Since most Sally stores are pretty small, it gives you the basics on how to figure out how to sell products correctly, it makes remembering the store layout super easy. A typical day of work was basically front-facing the store constantly, making sure each aisle is clean, neatly placed products so customers can find what they are looking for, re-stocking empty shelves, dusting, sweeping, answering beauty related questions to customers, and helping them find the absolute best products that work for them. I learned a lot about hair color, and a lot of what good beauty products are, trends in the beauty community, and what it takes to really help other customers and make sure they are satisfied. The hardest part of the job is making sales goals, basket building, and converting visitors into customers. It becomes increasingly difficult to meet sales goals when you are not given enough hours, or when the store is very dead/the hours you work the store is empty for most of the day. Personally I enjoyed being able to help others find good products. I love interacting with customers and having them tell me I made their day, or that I really was super helpful!

This is a great company to work for.

Working here is very fun and upbeat you usually enjoy the work you are doing and learn a lot to give to the customers. You may not be able to express yourself with your clothes only being able to wear white, gray, black and white. You can express yourself in your shoes and hair and nails, it is actually recommended.

Great products bad management

When I worked there I loved my co-workers and learning about new products! Every month you get free full size products so you can test them and recommend them to clients. However the Sally's that I worked at we had a lot of issues with the manager bullying the employees. We constantly reported it to our regional manager but she would never listen to us because the said,"we were going over our managers head."

Easy work as long as you don't take any rude customers personally

Shipment and restocking shelves can be fun and therapeutic. Cleaning is easy, answering phones is not great during busy times but higher ups do encourage you to make the effort to always answer the phone. Point of Sales system has been updated to touch screens so it is more modern. It is important to effectively communicate with coworkers and manager about any situations that may arise between you and your customers such as questionable returns or exchanges. All in all, a decent part time job.
