Potbelly reviews

Houston, TX - May 12, 2020

The managers are key to their sucsses.

I loved working for this company and I would love to work here again. This is the only company that showed compassion and actually helped me out when I needed personal help.

Midland, TX - May 10, 2020

Potbelly is an amazing place to take your friends , and family out to eat .

Potbelly has been in business for 4 years now . I hope it continues to stay in business . The customer service there is fantastic! I barley started working there back in January , and I love it ! I’m allowed to get any school work done there if we aren’t busy . They actually work around my schedule at home .

General Manager

Houston, TX - May 7, 2020

Worst job ever

They are the most selfish and rude company. My boss in particular was a dick and extremely sexist. Ppl called HR but it never went anywhere Bc they protect upper level

Shop Employee Trainer

Columbia, MD - May 3, 2020

I enjoyed my time there but

We'd have days where only 10 people would come in or days of 1000 and we would have to be working at max speed and if everyone isn't doing a good job your gonna have a bad shift.

Sales Associate

Chicago, IL - April 30, 2020

Good First Job

I started out as a eager 16 year old ready for my school's summer job program and as nervous as I was, it turned out pretty good. I'm actually looking to come back to Potbelly because the hours Food Service provides is way better than retail. Anyways, def recommend unless you absolutely can't do loud hectic environments where you have 2 hour rushes 3 times a day.

Chicago, IL - April 29, 2020

Simple company with good intentions

While the location i worked at is very lax in general, its always demanding depending on the time of day and season. it was never a bother for me and i did my best to work while trying to push for good service. there are some things you pick up on to make work easier but also the demand to push certain products or offers was always the hardest thing to do when 9/10 times the customer didnt want it. Management is always iffy depending on the person but usually everyone works together to get everything done. sometimes its not like that as some people who are hired arent putting in the same effort as others but thats just the hiring is a bit lax.

Customer Service Representative

Saint Charles, IL - April 25, 2020

Lack of passion from GM

Work is easy for the pay. Hours are fine if the manager schedules you inside your availability (usually she doesn't) if you come to her with a problem it probably won't get fixed, if it's a problem with her she cries. She gets mad when you complain and says everything is her fault even though as the manager it technically is. Meals are half off which is cool. Upper management in this store is annoying and she doesn't care about you, only what the store looks like and she only finds bad things, never compliments the good things you do.

Maryland - April 24, 2020

Terrible place to work

Worst place I have ever worked!! They are selfish awful to their people don’t care about development and don’t follow up. Don’t let the logo full you. You will be miserable and regret working here. Their pay is capped and it’s below average. Bonus is impossible and worse of all they put no money into their stores which are all dirty old broken and disgusting. AVOID 10 years of wasted time at this company

Crew Member

Chicago, IL - April 23, 2020

Potentially good team but won't get paid fairly

They expect you to give them your all but aren't willing to pay you what your worth. Managers make the most then shift leads and everyone else makes minimum wage. Don't do delivery. Definitely won't compensate gas or increase pay if also a cashier or other crew member

Eagan, MN - April 21, 2020

It was alright

The District Manager was pretty unethical and didn't treat any of the workers or Managers with respect. The management in the shop was fine, some stuff was micromanaged though. Tips weren't allowed which sucked. It all stems from the top of the company. Everyone is overworked and under-appreciated.

District Manager

Chicago, IL - April 20, 2020

Results Driven

I love working for this company. I look forward to my future with them. It is evolving to meet customer needs at a higher level. Very focused on making sure customers are happy.

Backline Coordinator/ Certified Trained

Arlington, TX - April 18, 2020

Fun place to work at

Talked to customers every day, I learned how to treat customers correctly. I also worked during the most busiest times with team mates that made work fun

Sales Associate/Cashier/Customer Service

Bethesda, MD - April 17, 2020

Not enough staff

This job was pretty flexible to my school schedule. However, there wasn't enough staff working which caused some of the employees to be over worked a little bit. My applied to work the cash register but because of the shortage of staff I was forced to do deliveries.

Buffalo Grove, IL - April 15, 2020

The Gm’s are not good

With everything going on it has gotten better slow and every customer is rude it was okay at first then we’ve already went though about 5 Gm’s And they all stink

Shift Manager

Maple Grove, MN - April 14, 2020

Short staffed and unrealistic work life balance

Expected to work when sick or when managers don’t show up. There’s one rule for them and one for everyone else. Managers from Chicago would stop in and never ever say anything nice. But we are expected to show positive vibes on each shift. Long hours and management will let you think like they care but they don’t. if you miss pay it takes a month to get it. Minimum. I would go work for Chipotle or a another fast-food joint that cares more about you than work here

Chantilly, VA - April 11, 2020

Management was amazing and the staff were all friendly

This was my first official job and all of my coworkers made the transition very easy. I am still in touch w the managers and the work load was not too heavy for a part time or in school worker.

Milwaukee, WI - April 9, 2020

I enjoy working for potbelly.

I feel I have the skills and qualifications to work at potbelly I like to move fast so I felt the job was really for me ' I also get to meet new people I've always been a people's person and I'm very generous

Shift Manager

Temple, TX - April 6, 2020

Terrible job

Spent 2 years wasting my life here. Management was terrible. The company only cares about making money and not the happiness of their employees. Lots of favoritism as well. Doesn't matter how well you work, how far you commute, or the fact that you train other stores in other states. You won't advance any higher here.

Irving, TX - April 2, 2020

Great Employer

Potbelly is a great company with very helpful management that wants you to succeed. Their flexibility with which hours you can work and what shops you can work at is amazing.

Minneapolis, MN - April 2, 2020

On point

Overall potbelly has been nothing but open arms an respectful towards employees an customers. Very understanding when it’s comes to not just work life but outside life.
