Great place to grow

There are plenty of great people here and I get to learn alot my job challenges me and I'm moving around but I get to do other jobs in different fields

Grocery Clerk

Chicago, IL - May 12, 2020

Alot of hard work but very low pay

As a grocery clerk, I stock, clean and I feel required to not only spot thieves but must perform security duties. Management will not properly schedule security because they want to save money for their bonuses. You can't really schedule your personal errands because schedules come out weekly. The schedule is due by Friday at noon. Many times the schedule is not available or you copy your schedule only to find out you were scheduled for a Sunday.

Bagger

Evanston, IL - May 2, 2020

Fun workplace with bagging

I didn't have many co-workers that were my friends, and they didn't really like to work with me because I used to be annoyingly friendly. But overall,I really enjoyed working there because it helped me do things that I normally wouldn't have done like be working for 8 hours and not using my phone or laptop.

Jewel Osco is a great place to work! Very friendly and hardworking people to work with. Most workers there have excellent customer service and great attitudes.

Bakery Clerk

Glenview, IL 60025 - April 24, 2020

very laid back and well paying job

I worked in the bakery department for a while. My co workers were great! the customers were mostly great and my job was plain and simple. The only issue was that I eventually felt like i was going in circles. I had a very repetitive job that only involved putting stuff on trays for 6 hours of the day. Great job but very repetitive.

Great co-workers

Easy grocery store job that had it's ups and downs, but the best thing about it was team that I worked with in the front end. Awesone staff that became like a family. Great people.

Staff Pharmacist

Freeport, ME - April 17, 2020

Better than the big 3, not as good as Hannaford

A “reasonable” amount of tech coverage provided, esp when compared to the big three. Even though they’re a grocery store first, they actually take pharmacy very seriously. When I was first hired in 2011, they flew me and several other newly hired pharmacists from around the country to Chicago for a week of training. I LOVED their proprietary ARx pharmacy software. Unfortunately, they now use a different vendor

Bagger/Cart Attendant

Clinton, IA - April 14, 2020

Extremely Poor Management

The Clinton, IA Store Management is Horrible to their employees. Yelling at employees in front of a store full of customers knowing that my grandfather just passed away the day before. One even told me to throw my phone away. Plus, overworking the employees and berating/belittling them in front of others. They are Extremely Unprofessional & Need Reprimanded if not fired!!!

Management

Management is only worried about making money and does not care about their employees. The pay is decent but management was the reason why I ended up leaving.

I liked my job for a while but things change and so do times so at the end of it all it wasn’t for me but I really loved working there seeing your regular customers and that’s what I miss the most but it’s definitely a job I’ll never forget.

Cashier

Chicago, IL - April 6, 2020

Productive workplace with fair pay

there are flexible hours as well as a fun working environment. Typical days are busy at my location but makes the day fly by. I learned to manage money at the customer service desk and allowed to improve my customer service skills as assisting with returns and exchanges. improved interpersonal skills with people of different disabilities when assisting them to shop or when checking out. Management is friendly and helpful with any situations related to the workplace or with stuff out of work by adjusting your schedule.

Liquor Manager ASD (Assistant Store Director)

Chicago, IL - April 3, 2020

Company treated its employees very unfairly

I don’t recommend working for such a toxic place. They treat employees very unfairly. Most Managemant only look out for themselves instead of the well-being of its employees.

4.0

Deli Backup (assistant manager)

Joliet, IL - March 31, 2020

Extremely fast paced atmosphere that required work to be done at breakneck speed

Because we were always understaffed the job got pretty hectic at times. The customer was the highest priority so we had to concentrate on the customers that walked up and wanted sliced meats. That left very little room to get the other work done. Being understaffed wasn't necessarily the fault of management because some of the associates would walk out during their 2nd or 3rd shift because they were not prepared for the amount of work that it takes to be a deli associate. Management saw our struggles in this area and tried to do what they could but people were not applying for any jobs at the store. The most enjoyable part of the job were the customers. Some customers had little to do and came in every day. It was very enjoyable being part of their lives.

Cashier/Customer Service

Evanston, IL - March 26, 2020

Part time working was fairly good

I typically had night shifts til closing but I occasionally did opening shifts. My work day was normally 8 hours and roughly 5 times per week. I learned how to professional talk to customers and how to handle predicaments or issues that happen in customer service. It was fun talking with everyone from customers to asking how their day was to other employees.
